Horses have shaped my life for as long as I can remember, and so has my passion for psychology, understanding how our minds work and how we can improve our well-being and find greater joy and happiness in our lives. Equus Coaching brings those two worlds together, combining evidence-based equestrian sports psychology with a lifelong understanding of horses, riders and the realities of equestrian life.
I work with riders, young people and equestrian professionals who want to build confidence, perform under pressure and protect their well-being, without losing the joy of riding.
As a graduate member of the British Psychological Society, I hold a Master’s degree in Psychology, alongside specialist training in evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Positive Psychology, Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy (CBH) and coaching.
My work as a therapist and coach empowers you with the most effective science-informed approaches, paired with genuine understanding, compassion and human connection.

Alongside my equestrian work, I am the founder of Your Mind Works, my main psychology and coaching practice. Here I support individuals with stress, anxiety, performance and wellbeing across a range of settings, from professionals under pressure to individuals navigating life’s challenges.
The tools I use with riders are grounded in psychological science, not trends or surface-level mindset strategies, but structured approaches designed for lasting change.
As part of this work, I also created the Your Mind Works app, a companion for one-to-one clients and as a self-help membership offering guided exercises, visualisations and structured tools to support progress between sessions. Riders working with me have access to these resources and tools, allowing our work to flow seamlessly between sessions.
The depth of my psychology and therapeutic training underpins everything I do within Equus Coaching. The tools I teach riders and coaches are grounded in research and applied in a practical way for equestrians.

Like many riders, I’ve experienced the frustration of fear in the saddle. I’ve known what it feels like to lose confidence, to ride a nervous horse, and to question yourself despite knowing you’re capable.
I also know what it feels like when that shifts — when calm returns, trust rebuilds and riding becomes enjoyable again.
That personal understanding sits alongside my professional training. It means I understand both the psychology and the lived reality of being a rider.
Horses ask for presence. They respond to clarity. They reflect tension and reward calm.
My work is about helping you bring those qualities into your riding, your competitions, your parenting or your professional role.
Because when your mind works with you, everything changes — not just in the saddle, but beyond it.

It has been amazing. I would absolutely recommend Lucy.
I have definitely achieved what I wanted to, and feel much calmer. I’ve noticed as well that I am much less stressed with a difference in my ability to relax and to be less and less worried about things. I have found it so helpful. I think all the different aspects and working step-by-step to get a solution have just helped massively. The personalised audios are just brilliant, and because it’s working! The biggest change for me is having the courage to be more assertive, clearing my mind, getting clarity on my thoughts and the relaxation exercises have all been hugely beneficial too. I felt really supported throughout everything explained thoroughly and clearly. I’ve always felt very relaxed, comfortable and confident. Safe in your hands. Thank you. It has been amazing. I would absolutely recommend Lucy.

I felt really supported throughout and looked forward to each of our sessions.
I’ve made a lot of changes, making more time for myself and sleeping better. I felt really supported throughout and looked forward to each of our sessions. It was a really good experience, I feel I’ve achieved what I wanted to do, still lots to do and manage in life, but I have lots of ways now that I can help myself more, which is great.
