MAKING CHANGE POSSIBLE

Rider Wellbeing

Private, evidence-based therapy supporting life’s challenges, with a grounded understanding of equestrian life.

THERAPY for equestrians

Life doesn’t pause because you’re a rider. Responsibilities, relationships, work, health and emotional challenges continue alongside the demands of caring for horses and maintaining a busy, physically and emotionally demanding lifestyle.

I offer private, evidence-based therapy for navigating life’s challenges, with the added reassurance of working with someone who understands the commitments, pressures and identity that often come with being a rider or horse owner.

As a qualified Integrative Psychotherapist, I offer a safe, supportive space where evidence-based approaches meet genuine compassion. My therapy practice draws from proven psychological methods, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness and Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy (CBH) to help you create meaningful change that lasts.

Imagine living your life with greater ease and confidence.

Picture yourself waking up each morning with a sense of calm and possibility. The weight of stress or anxiety no longer holds you back. Sleep comes more easily, and you wake refreshed.  Imagine making decisions based on what you truly want, rather than what your fears allow. Having difficult conversations with more confidence, and setting boundaries without guilt. Finally, pursuing opportunities that once seemed out of reach.

This isn’t just wishful thinking. It’s what becomes possible through dedicated therapeutic work. My clients regularly transform from feeling overwhelmed and restricted to experiencing a sense of clarity and freedom in their lives.

Therapy isn’t just about reducing symptoms; it’s about expanding possibilities. It’s about rediscovering parts of yourself that have been overshadowed by stress, pain, or worry and building the resilience to navigate life’s challenges with confidence.

What would you do differently if you weren’t held back? How would your relationships, work, and daily experiences change?

This is the transformation we’ll work toward together.

it's time to do things differently

Many clients come to me feeling they've tried everything.

You may have read the self-help books, downloaded the meditation apps, and followed the advice of well-meaning friends. Yet they still face the same challenges and are stuck in repeating patterns. If you are experiencing:

  • Persistent anxiety or worry that interferes with daily life
  • Physical symptoms of stress that won’t go away
  • Difficulty sleeping despite being exhausted
  • Chronic pain that affects your quality of life
  • Feeling stuck in patterns that no longer serve you
  • Struggling to find balance and purpose

Then it’s time for change. The difference with therapy is personalised guidance, evidence-based techniques, and ongoing support that create lasting change rather than temporary relief.

Your experience is unique, therapy should be too.

As a rider or horse owner, your well-being can easily slip down the priority list. Between caring for your horse, riding or competing, managing work, family and everyday responsibilities, life can feel like a constant balancing act. It’s common to just keep going, often without stopping to check in with how you’re really doing.

Over time, this busy, responsibility-heavy lifestyle can leave little space to reflect, process emotions or ask for support. Therapy offers a place where you can pause, focus on yourself, and explore what you need, without judgment or pressure.

My approach is active, practical, and focused on creating meaningful change in the present. Together, we work at your pace, where you can develop the understanding and tools to support you in ways that fit your life, values and responsibilities.

I aim to provide a space where you feel truly seen, heard, and valued. Whether you’re seeking support during a difficult period, need greater balance and resilience, or want to understand yourself more deeply, therapy offers a space that respects both you and the practical realities of your lifestyle.

what you can expect an immersive journey of reflection, support and understanding.

Therapy sessions are calm, collaborative and always led by what feels most important to you. There is no pressure to talk about anything before you’re ready, and no expectation to have clear answers or goals from the outset.

We begin by getting to know what brings you to therapy and what support might be most helpful. As we work together, sessions involve reflection, gentle exploration, practical tools and developing new ways of relating to thoughts and emotions, always guided by your needs and comfort.

This is a confidential, professional space designed to support your wellbeing, not to judge, fix or rush change.

How I can support you

People come to therapy for many different reasons, and often for more than one at the same time. You don’t need to fit into a particular category to benefit from therapy; however, these are just some of the areas I commonly support.

anxiety + worry

Support for ongoing anxiety, excessive worry, racing thoughts or feeling constantly on edge. Therapy can help you understand anxiety so you can develop steadier ways of coping and regulating your emotions and find greater calm in everyday life.

Stress + resilience

For those feeling overwhelmed, stretched too thin or emotionally exhausted. This work focuses on recognising stress patterns, supporting nervous system regulation, and developing more sustainable ways to cope within busy, responsibility-heavy lives.

health + chronic pain

Support for the emotional impact of health challenges, ongoing pain, fatigue or sleep difficulties. Therapy can help you explore the relationship between physical and emotional wellbeing, develop supportive coping strategies, and improve quality of life alongside long-term conditions.

confidence + assertiveness

Working with low confidence, self-doubt, people-pleasing or difficulty expressing needs and boundaries. Therapy supports healthier self-trust, clearer communication, assertiveness and confidence in decision-making and everyday interactions.

frequently asked questions

Rider Wellbeing is for general life concerns. An understanding of riding and horse ownership means you don’t need to explain or justify the practical and emotional realities of your equestrian lifestyle. Riding does not need to be the focus of our work unless you want it to be, and we can also work on riding confidence and performance alongside if this is something that is supportive to you.

You can bring anything that feels important to you. This might include anxiety, stress, low mood, burnout, relationship difficulties, health concerns, life transitions, loss, or simply feeling overwhelmed or stuck. You may just have a sense that something isn’t quite right or that things could feel better. We can explore this together.

The duration of therapy varies depending on your specific goals and the complexity of your situation. Many clients see significant improvements within 4-6 sessions. For more complex or longstanding issues, further sessions may be recommended. We’ll discuss timeline expectations during your initial assessment and regularly review your goals and progress.

Research consistently shows that online therapy is just as effective as in-person therapy for most conditions. For some clients, the comfort of their own environment actually enhances the therapeutic experience. The addition of the Your Mind Works app provides continuous support between sessions, which many clients find also accelerates their progress.

The initial assessment is comprehensive but conversational. We’ll discuss what brings you to therapy, relevant background information, and your goals. I’ll ask questions to understand your unique situation, and you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions about my approach. There’s no pressure to share more than feels comfortable, and we’ll focus on helping you feel at ease and supported. By the end, we’ll have a clearer direction for our work together and initial recommendations.

My integrated approach combines evidence-based methods with personalised application, focusing on both understanding patterns and creating practical change. The addition of the Your Mind Works app provides continuous support between sessions, which significantly enhances the therapeutic process and helps create lasting change more efficiently than traditional weekly therapy alone.

Yes. Therapy is confidential, with a few standard legal and ethical exceptions which will be explained clearly at the outset. Your privacy and safety are taken seriously.
